About

Carl Suchy & Söhne is an independent watch brand from Vienna with a legacy dating back to 1822. Founded by Carl Suchy, the company became the most important watchmaker of the Danube monarchy and a trusted supplier to the imperial court. Its success led to the establishment of stores and workshops in Prague, Vienna, and La Chaux-de-Fonds. Its clientele included figures such as Sigmund Freud and Empress Elisabeth of Austria, who valued the brand for its innovative design and exceptional quality.

In 2017, Carl Suchy & Söhne was revived by Robert Punkenhofer and Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, bringing new life to this remarkable heritage. Today, the brand stands for Viennese tradition combined with modern watchmaking. Its timepieces are conceived in Vienna and carefully manufactured in Austria and Switzerland. At the heart of the brand lies a distinct approach to horology, shaped by Vienna’s intellectual and cultural heritage. It is this unique expression of Viennese watchmaking and design that sets each Carl Suchy & Söhne timepiece apart.

Values & Core Principles

Our values define who we are and guide every timepiece we create.

SustainabilitY

We are committed to environmental care, quality, and longevity. Our watches and clocks are designed to last, with materials chosen for durability. We encourage repair and maintenance so that every timepiece can be cherished for generations. By supporting local craftsmanship and using sustainable resources, we reduce our impact on the planet while creating objects built to endure.

In recognition of these efforts, Carl Suchy & Söhne received the Butterfly Mark in 2024, an independent certification for sustainability in the luxury industry.

A Word from the CEO

"Sustainability is a core principle at Carl Suchy & Söhne. Our strictly limited annual production reflects our focus on quality over quantity. Every watch and clock we create is a testament to local craftsmanship, produced entirely in Austria and Switzerland in small, carefully managed editions. Production cycles take three to five months and embody our dedication to craftsmanship and excellence at every stage. We are proud of our legacy, with timepieces in our archive still ticking after 200 years."
